Kingsway Surgery is proud to be an Armed Forces Veteran Friendly Accredited Practice.
We are committed to providing the best possible care and support to veterans, serving personnel, reservists and their families. By identifying patients who have served in the UK Armed Forces, we can help ensure they receive appropriate care and are signposted to specialist veteran services where needed.
Are You a Veteran?
A veteran is anyone who has served at least one day in the Armed Forces, whether as a Regular or Reservist.
If you have served in the Armed Forces, please let a member of our team know so that we can record your veteran status on your medical record.
How Being Identified as a Veteran Can Help
Recording your veteran status allows us to:
- Better understand your healthcare needs.
- Refer you to services specifically designed for veterans.
- Signpost you to local and national support organisations.
- Ensure you receive the care and support available to former Armed Forces personnel.
- Support access to NHS veteran mental health and physical health services where appropriate.
Priority Treatment
Veterans may be entitled to priority NHS treatment for conditions that are related to their service in the Armed Forces, subject to clinical need. This applies whether you served in the Regular or Reserve Forces.
Support Available
Veterans can access a wide range of support services, including:
- Mental health services for veterans.
- Physical health support and rehabilitation services.
- Assistance with housing, employment and welfare.
- Charities offering practical and emotional support.
- Help for veterans transitioning to civilian life.
